The Nigerian Government Considers Reciprocity in Timeline for Innuance of Visas to Foreign Nationals
On Monday, October 16, 2017 The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama in a meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mohammed Babandede issued a warning that Nigeria would no longer tolerate delay in issuance of visas to its nationals from any country.

- The Federal Government is taking steps to ensure that reciprocity will apply going forward in terms of timeline for issuance of visas to Foreign Nationals seeking to come into Nigeria.
- It was stressed at the meeting that Nigeria is still committed to her Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria Agenda.
- The Ministry of Interior, Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigerian consulates abroad would work together in ensuring the success of the reciprocity policy.
CONCLUSION
It is expected that this measure when put in place will ensure a seamless travel for holders of Nigerian passports and citizens of other countries looking to visit Nigeria for business and other purposes as long as Foreign Missions of these countries in Nigeria do not arbitrarily delay issuance of visas to Nigerians.
