Nigeria has been listed as one of the top gas-flaring countries in the world, with an estimated two million people living less than 4 km away from a flare site and also with over Six Hundred and Eighty-five Million United States Dollars ($685, 000, 000.00) worth of natural gas reportedly flared since January 2022, despite penalties being at two Dollars ($2) per 1,000 standard cubic feet.
